United Sports Club (Gandarpur, Cuttack) emerged champions in the Baramunda Cup State Level Women Football Tournament, defeating Odisha Police 6-5 in the final via penalty shoot out at Baramunda ground here today. Tie-breaker was applied after play in the regulation time ended in 2-2 draw.
Earlier in the semifinals, United Sports Club beat KIIT University 1-0. Prasant Nayak scored the all important goal in the second half. The three-day tournament commenced on March 30 and Odisha Police won the opening match, defeating Utkal Sporting (Jatni) by solitary goal which was scored by Rabi Mundari.
The champions team received a cash prize of Rs 10,000 and the runners-up Rs 7,000. The tournament was organised by Baramunda Youth Association. Local MLA Ashok Chandra Panda handed over the trophy.
