Woman Candidate Master Saina Salonika and Sambit Panda won the girls and open titles respectively in the Odisha State Under-13 Chess Championship, which concluded at Ajay Binay Institute of Technology here today.
Saina, the top seed from Bhubaneswar, drew her seventh and last game against third seed Anisha Mishra to finish with 6.5 points. Anisha settled as runner-up with six points.
Bhubaneswar boy Sambit, seeded fourth also ended with 6.5 points, singing peace treaty with Nilsu Pattnayak. Top seed Ansuman Samal finished runner-up with six points.
As many as 110 boys and 51 girls took part in the three-day championship, which was organised by Creative Chess Club, under the aegis of All Odisha Chess Association. Top two finishers in both the categories qualified to represent Odisha in the Under-13 National Championship to be held later this year.
