Ansu Bhuyan consolidated his status as the top male tennis player of Odisha by winning both the men`s singles and doubles titles in the Puri Open All-Odisha Tennis Tournament here at Puri Club today. Bhubaneswar-based Ansu beat his coach Santosh Mallik in the singles final 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 and then combined with Mallik to get the better of city opponents Satirtha Patnaik and Ajay Nishank 6-3, 6-4 in the doubles final.
Shilpi Swarupa Das emerged women`s singles champion, prevailing over Lusna Sharma 6-2. Bhubaneswar duo Ajay Mahapatra and Ajay Sahu also bagged a double by winning both the 40-plus and 50-plus veteran doubles crowns. The defeated Paresh Singh and Biswajit Mishra 7-5 in the 40-plus final and P K Nath-J N Patnaik 7-3 in 50-plus summit clash.
PDTA president Pradipta Mohapatra handed over the prizes at the presentation ceremony. PDTA secretary Sunil Kumar Mohapaptra, Joint-secretary Harihar Guru, tournament director Sumant Kumar Subudhi and tournament referee Prabin Kumar Nayak were present on the occasion.
