Odisha powerlifting ace Pradeep Kumar Patra added yet another feather to his cap by winning gold medal in men`s 66kg category of the Federation Cup at Kapurthala in Punjab today. Bhubaneswar-based Patra lifted 230kg in squat, 115kg in benchpress and 240kg in deadlift for a total of 585kg.
Anil Kumar of Madhya Pradhesh and Bijay Kumar of Chhattisgarh claimed the silver and bronze with total efforts of 573kg and 535kg respectively. A five-member squad will represented Odisha in the above-mentioned championships. They were Basant Maleka (53kg), G Shiva (66kg), Pradip Kumar Patra (66kg), Kartikeswar Jena (74kg) and Om Swarup Mohanty (105kg).
