Venkateswar English Medium School (VEMS) emerged champions in the 13th VCAO Inter-School Cricket Tournament, trouncing Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) in the final by eight wickets here at BJB College ground today. Soumayajeet Pandab played instrumental role in the thumping win, hitting an unbeaten 51. He was adjudged the man of the match.
Jyoti Ranjan Behera (BJEM), Susant Majhi (KISS), Somesh Nayak (VEMS), Marut Ranjan Mohapatra (BJEM), Marut Nandan Mohanty and Ayush Barik (St Joseph`s) pocketed the individual prizes as man of the tournament, best batsman, best bowler, best wicket-keeper, best fielder and best up-coming player respectively.
BJB College Principal Dr Muhammad Nawaj Hasan handed over the trophy in the presence of host Veterans` Cricket Association of Odisha secretary Biren Kumar Das, vice-presidents Ashokananda Jena, Santanu Satpathy, Babudhan Patnaik, Bikram Mohanty; joint-secretaries Ananga Prasad Patnaik and Biswa Ranjan Nayak.
