A delegation from International Football Federation (FIFA) would be visiting Cuttack in January next year to inspect Barabati Stadium as a possible venue for 2017 Under-17 World Cup. This was disclosed by Football Association Odisha (FAO) secretary Sanjay Behera after his meeting with All India Football Federation (AIFF) president Praful Patel at New Delhi today.
``The AIFF president was very positive to FAO`s request to consider Barabati Stadium as a venue for FIFA U-17 World Cup. I also assured him full cooperation of Odisha government, Odisha Olympic Association and Odisha Cricket Association if Cuttack gets a chance to stage a few matches,`` said Behera after the meeting.
``The AIFF president, however, assured that India is bidding to host the FIFA U-23 World Cup in 2019 and if successful, Odisha will definitely get the opportunity to stage a few matches. He also promised to allot maximum number of AIFF championships to Odisha in the days to come,`` added the FAO secretary.
