Bhubaneswar duo Amitansu Priyadarshan and Saina Salonika won the open and girls` titles respectively in the Odisha State Under-11 Chess Championship, which concluded at Synergy Institute of Engineering and Technology in Dhenkanal today.
In the seven-round open category, Amtiansu and Pranab Kumar Patra (Jajpur) tied for the top spot with six points each. However, the former was declared champion on the basis of tie-break score. Woman Candidate Master Saina finished at the top of the table in girls` category, garnering 5.5 points out of a possible six.
Altogether 108 players participated in the three-day championship, which was organised by Dhenkanal District Chess Association, under the auspices All Odisha Chess Association. Top three finishers in both the categories qualified to represent Odisha in the National U-11 Championship to be held at Puri from July 24 to August 1.
