Odisha forward Suman Pragyan Mohapatra and mid-fielder Srijana Tamang put up impressive performance for defending champions India, who, however, finished runners-up in the AFC Girls U-14 Regional Football Championship at the City Football Complex in Colombo on March 27.
Nepal emerged champions after beating Tajikistan by two goals in the last Group game. They finished with their full quota of 15 points from five matches while second-placed India managed 12 from five outings.
Out of the five games, India won four and lost one. Suman achieved a hat-trick and Srijana scored once as India crushed host Sri Lanka 7-1 in the opening match. Suman scored once in India`s 8-1 win over Tajikistan in the next match.
