Gangpur-Odisha finished third in the 4th National Junior Women Hockey Championship (Division B) with a 2-0 win over Manipur in the hard-line match at the Chamundi Vihar astro-turf ground in Mysore on today. Chhattisgarh won the title, trouncing Kerala 6-1 in the lop-sided final later in the day.
Hockey Gangpur-Odisha`s hope to win the title on debut failed to materialise ended with a 0-2 defeat at the hands of Kerala in the second semifinal.
Earlier, Hockey Ganpur won all three of their league matches in Pool B to qualify for the semifinals. They beat Andhra Pradesh 4-0, Jammu & Kashmir 10-0 and Assam 8-1.

March 9: Hockey Gangpur (Janhabi Pradhan 28th, 31st, 27th, 58th; Mosmita Lugun 8th, 26th, 32nd; Rinki Kujur 29th, 40th; Marata Jasmin Bara 1st) beat Jammu & Kashmir 10-0.
March 10: Hockey Gangpur (Rinki Kujur 18th, 40th; Rojita Kujur 59th, 62nd; Janhabi Pradhan 21st, 31st; Rahil Tirkey 65th, Laxmi Ekka 69th) beat Assam (Maxima Xalxo 48th) 8-1.
March 12 (Semifinal): Hockey Gangpur lost to Kerala (Sindhu MR 26th, Amala Thomas 68th) 0-2.
March 13 (Third-place match): Hockey Gangpur-Odisha (Rinki Kujur 2nd, Laxmi Ekka 28th) beat Manipur 2-0.
