Golfers Dalbir, Geeta shine in Audi quattro Cup

BGC duo of Dalbir Singh and Geeta Biswas won the Bhubaneswar leg, the fourth of the Audi quattro Cup Golf Tournament and qualified for the National final. In the qualifying round held here at the Bhubaneswar Golf Club (BGC) here yesterday, Dalbir and Geeta combined to score 39 stableford points and pipped the duo of Satyajyoti Mohanty and Tapan K Mohanty to the second spot by a solitary point.
The Bhubaneswar leg of the multi-city event was hosted by Audi Bhubaneswar. Shailendra Upadhyay and Sunil Taneja also scored 38 points but lost out on a count-back to finish third. A wild card entry was also picked during the prize presentation where the team of N P Singh and R N Singh were the lucky winners, logging 32 points. However, they have to await the scores of 12 other teams to secure a National final berth.
In the various skills competition held alongside the main event, Geeta Biswas, Col S K Mohapatra and  P K Mohanty won the prizes for longest drive, straightest drive closest-to-the-pin. Audi Bhubaneswar MD, Devjyoti Patnaik handed over the prizes at the presentation party.
The Audi quattro Cup tournament series, established in 1991, has become one of the most celebrated amateur golf tournaments in the world bringing together over 85,000 golfers from 54 countries. The Indian circuit of Audi quattro Cup will visit 12 other cities making it a 13-leg series and would touch almost 1,500 golfers in all.
