Experienced Cuttack shuttler Kamal Das bagged a double by winning both the men`s doubles and mixed doubles titles in the 1st Nalini Kanta Memorial State Open Badminton Tournament, which concluded at Unit-I Indoor Hall here today.
Chitta Ranjan Satpathy and Rutaparna Panda were partners for Das in men`s doubles and mixed doubles respectively. S Appa Rao (Sambalpur) won the men`s singles crown, while the top honour in veteran doubles went to Chandi Prasad Das and Akshay Kumar Sahu. Appa Rao was adjudged the player of the tournament.
State Labour Minister Bijayshri Routaray, Angul-Sukinda Railways Project MD Dilip Kumar Samantaray and Odisha State Badminton Association secretary Pradeep Kumar Mohanty handed over the prizes at the closing function. The four-day tournament was organised by Amateur Badminton Club.

Men’s singles: S Appa Rao bt Pramod Kumar Rana 21-10, 14-21, 21-13.
Men’s doubles: Kamal Das-Chitta Satpathy bt S Appa Rao-K Rabi Babu 11-21, 21-11, 21-16.
Mixed doubles: Kamal Das-Rituparna Panda bt S Appa Rao-Maman Behera (Sambalpur) 21-13, 21-15.
Veteran doubles: Chandi Prasad Das-Akshay Kumar Sahu bt U C Pradhan-Biswajit Bose 21-16, 15-21, 21-13.
PRIZE MONEY:
Men`s singles: Champion Rs 10,000; Runner-up Rs 7,500, Losing semifinalists: Rs 6,000 each.
Mens` doubles: Champion Rs 12,000; Runners-up Rs 8,000. Losing semifinalists: Rs 6,000 each.
Veteran doubles: Champion Rs 8,000; Runners-up Rs 6,000; Losing semifinalists: Rs 4,000 each.
Mixed doubles: Champion Rs 5,000; Runners-up Rs 3,000.
