Captain Shubham Nayak’s four-wicket haul in the second innings helped Odisha beat Tripura by seven wickets on the third and last day of their East Zone Vijay Merchant Trophy U-16 match against Tripura at Bidanasi ground here today. This was the first win in four matches for Odisha and they qualified for the all-India knock-out stage, finishing runners-up in East Zone with 11 points.
Put into bat, Tripura made 218 and 85 in the first and second innings respectively. In reply, Odisha took 43-run first innings lead by declaring at 261 for nine and then knocked off the required 43 runs for victory, losing three wickets in the second innings.
