Former India opener Madhuri Meheta hit a polished half-century to power Odisha to an 80-run win over Andhra in their Plate-A match of the Senior Women Inter-State Cricket Tournament at Vijaywada today. This was the fourth successive win for Odisha, who earlier posted emphatic wins against Madhya Pradesh, Baroda and Jharkhand.
Bolangir lass Madhuri, who scored 89 and 31 in the previous two matches against Baroda and Jharkhand respectively, continued her impressive form by hitting a 105-ball 64, which included eight boundaries.
Put into bat, Odisha compiled a healthy total of 166 for nine and then dismissed Andhra for 86. Captain Madhusmita Behera, Sujata Mallik and Sushree Pradhan bagged three wickets for Odisha, while V Sneha Deepthi top scored for Andhra with 33.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan and Gujarat registered wins in two other matches of the day played at different venues in Cuttack. Jaya Sharma slammed 91 to guide Rajasthan to a 59-run win over Goa, while D Patel’s four-wicket haul enabled Gujarat maul Jammu & Kashmir by 126 runs.
