Cuttack beat Bhubaneswar to regain Sahani Cup

Cuttack regained Sahani Cup, the symbol of supremacy in the Senior Men Inter-District Football Tournament, beating defending champions Bhubaneswar 2-1 in the hard-fought final at Angul Stadium here today.
Somnath Nayak gave Cuttack an early lead, netting the first goal in the third minute. Shekh Mustakin consolidated the lead, scoring the second goal in the 32nd minute. Trailing 0-2 at the half-time, Bhubaneswar fought back to reduce the margin through Sashikant Sandil in the 67 minute.
Odisha Olympic Association Asirbad Behera handed the trophy at the closing function. Host Angul District Athletic Association secretary Nilamani Rout and Odisha Cricket Association treasurer Satya Mohanty were present on the occasion.
The championship was inaugurated at Angul by Angul Municipality chairman Akhya Kumar Samant in the presence of Angul District Athletic Association secretary Nilamai Rout earlier on December 12.
