Nilsu Pattnayak emerges champion

Nilsu Pattnayak (Cuttack) emerged champion in the 3rd Balunkeswar All-Odisha Open Chess Tournament (Below 1500 rating), which concluded at Bhusandapur in Khurda today. He edged out Ankush Sahoo in the tie-break method after both the players tied for the top spot with 5.5 points each out of a possible six. Nilsu received the top prize of Rs 1,200, while runner-up Ankush was given Rs 1,000.

Altogether 52 players from five district participated in the two-day tournament which was organised by Balunkeswar Chess Centre, under the aegis of Khordha District Chess Association. Arjun Prusty and Narayan Patra handed over the prizes in the presence of KDCA secretary Subhasis Patnaik.
