Odisha allrounder Swagatika Rath slammed 65 to power East Zone to a 94-run win over South Zone in a league match of the Under-19 Women’s Inter-Zonal Cricket Tournament at Guwahati today. This was the third win in four matches for East, who earlier beat North and Central, but lost to West.
Electing to bat against South, East rode on Swagatika’s 108-ball knock, which included seven boundaries, to compile a competitive total of 157 for nine. Swagatika put on 89 runs for the fourth-wicket partnership with Priyanka Sawaiyan, who hit a 97-ball 37. In reply, South were bundled out for 63.
BRIEF SCORE: East Zone 157 for 9 in 50 overs (Swagatika Rath 65, Priyanka Sawaiyan 37; Meghana Sabbineni 2/15, Anjana Paul 2/23, R Gayakwad 2/32) beat South Zone 63 all out in 36 overs (D Prasad 3/12, Saika Ishaque 2/5, Ritu Dhrub 2/18) by 94 runs.
