Laxmi Bose passess away

Former Orissa and Mohun Bagan footballer Laxmi Charan Bose died at a private hospital in Cuttack on Monday. He was 67. Popularly known as `Khuchu da`, Bose was suffering from respiratory problem. A dashing forward, Bose made his junior National debut in 1965. He represented Orissa in Santosh Trophy several times, including 1971 when he was the captain. He also played Calcutta League for Mohun Bangan and Bengal Nagpur Railway. Bose served Railways for 36 years before retiring in 2002. He is survived by his wife and only son, Shibaji Bose, who also played Santosh Trophy many times. Orissa Football Association secretary M A Alam and Cuttack District Athletic Association secretary Asirbad Behera condoled the demise of Bose and expressed sympathy for his family.
