Odisha emerged overall champions in the 34th Junior National Rowing Championship, bagging three gold and one bronze medals at Roorkee in Uttarakhand today. Manujla Xess, Sanjukata Dung Dung, Pricila Baxla and Manisha Kispotta won the gold in 1,000 metre coxless four event.
Manjula-Sanjukta duo fetched another gold for the state by winning the coxless pair event. The third gold for Odisha was secured by N Monika Devi and Ashmita Kujur in the 1,000 metre double-scull event. Bikash Patra grabbed the bronze medal in the boys` single scull category.
A nine-member squad, comprising six girls and three boys represented Odisha in the seven-day championship. The squad members are trainees of SAI Water Sports Center, Jagatpur (Cuttack). The rowers were accompanied by SAI coach Jose Jacob and manager Shekh Mustaq Bux.
