Odisha archer Ranjit wins Junior National gold

Odisha’s Ranjit Nayak won the gold medal in 50 metre recurve round of the 36th Junior National Archery Championship at Kokrajhar, Assam today. According to Odisha Archery Association secretary Sradhananda Das, the state team also qualified for Olympic Round, which is to be held tomorrow.

This was the second National medal for Mayurbhanj archer Ranjit, who had secured a silver in 70 metre recurve event of the 33rd Sub-junior National Championship at Bangalore in January this year. A Plus-Two arts student of Bhubaneswar-based tribal school, KISS, Ranjit has qualified to represent India in the Youth Olympic Games to be held in Nanjing (China) next year.
