Fine all-round performance by Ranji spinner Sourav Sehgal helped Sahid Sporting Club, Bhubaneswar, win the State Inter-Club Cricket Tournament at Barabati Stadium here tonight. In the floodlit final, Sahid Sporting beat favourites Rising Students, Cuttack, by 18 runs.
Left-arm spinner Sehgal continued his fine form in the tournament, scoring a brisk 34 and bagging four wickets for 17 runs. In reply to Sahid Sporting’s competitive total of 140 for four in the stipulated 20 overs, Rising Students were bowled out for 122 in 18.5 overs.
The champion club took home the top prize of Rs 11,000, while the runners-up were given Rs 6,000. Former Parliament Member Anadi Sahu gave away the trophy and cash prizes at the closing function. Cuttack Municipal Corporation Deputy Mayor Madhusudan Sahu and host Orissa Cricket Association secretary Asirbad Behera were present on the occasion.
