Odisha bagged two gold and as many silver medals in the Federation Cup Powerlifting Championships at Jamshedpur today. Experienced Pradip Kumar Patra of Bhubaneswar claimed the gold in the men’s 66kg category, lifting 237.5kg in squat, 122.5kg in benchpres and 262.5kg in deadlift for a total of a total of 622.5kg.
The other gold medal was secured by Rourkela’s Sangita Singh, who lifted 150kg in squat, 72.5kg in benchpress and 140kg in deadlift for a total of 362.5kg in women’s 84kg weight class. Priyadarshini Bisoi and Rita Moharana won the two silver medals in women’s 63kg and above 84kg categories respectively.
Bisoi finished second with a total lift of 287.5kg, which included 115kg in squat, 50kg in benchpress and 122.5kg in deadlift. Moharana lifted 155kg in squat, 50kg in benchpress and 125kg in deadlift for a total of 330kg.
