A career-best unbeaten 69 by Pritam Debnath and a hat-trick by medium-pacer Arup Das powered Assam to a seven-wicket win over Odisha in their second match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy East Zone T20 League at Tripura Institute of Technology Ground in Agartala today.
Put into bat, Odisha made 140 for seven in the stipulated 20 overs, thanks to opener Bikash Pati’s 41-ball 54 (3x4, 2x6), his second successive half-century. Right-arm seamer Das achieved the hat-trick, dismissing Govind Poddar, Subhrajit Sahoo and Alok Sahoo in his third over.
In reply, Assam overhauled the target with 3.4 overs to spare. Debnath’s unbeaten 69, which included eight boundaries and two sixes, came off 45 balls. He put on 61 runs for the second-wicket partnership with opener Pallav Das, who contributed an useful 29. This was Assam’s first win in two matches, Odisha’s first defeat also in two outings.
