Pramod Rana of Cuttack bagged a double by winning both the singles and doubles titles in the state level men’s category of the Bolangir Open Badminton Tournament, which concluded at Saheed Bhagat Singh Club here yesterday. In the singles final, Rana came from behind to beat Moinuddin Khan of Bhubaneswar 13-21, 21-17, 21-14.
Cuttack duo of Rana and Kamal Das won the doubles final, defeating local combination of Surendra Nepal and Chandan Mishra 21-11, 21-12. The state-level veteran doubles title was claimed by local pair of Benudhar Pandey and Ghanashyam Mishra, who prevailed over Jayanta Mishra and Sudhansu Mahapatra of Burla 21-17, 21-12.
In the district level competition, local boy Arabinda Sahu emerged singles champion, getting the better of town-mate Abhimanyu Bagarty in the final 24-22, 21-18. Surendra Nepal and Chandan Mishra captured the doubles crown, defeating Amit Swain and Arabinda Sahu in the final 15-9, 15-13.
Abhimanyu Bagarty and Abhishek Babu (Bhawanipatna) received the Hrudanand Nanda Memorial Trophy as the best district and state level shuttlers respectively.
In the district school tournament, Maman Behera of Bolangir Public School clinched a double by winning Class-X girls` singles and doubles titles. Roshan Singh of Bolangir Public School also bagged a double, winning both the singles and doubles titles. Siddhant Bagarti, Amit Narayan Pradhan, Siddhant Agarwal and Sangita Majhi also won titles in different categories.
Puintala Block chairman Jyotsna Mishra inaugurated the five-day tournament, which was organised by District Badminton Association, Bolangir. National Law Commission member Narasingha Mishra handed over the trophies at the closing function. Saintala MLA Surendra Singh Bhoi, pastor Anil Nag, host DBAB president Gopal Chandra Panda and secretary Surulal Matari were present on the occasion.

Class-X boys singles: Roshan Singh bt Siddhant Bagarti 11-4, 11-3. Class-X boys doubles: Roshan Singh-Siddhant Bagarti bt Sourav Purohit-Sanket Acharya 11-10, 10-11, 11-8.
Class-VII boys singles: Shibashish Das bt Ashutosh Panda 21-8. Class-VII boys doubles: Amit Narayan Pradhan-Siddhant Agarwal bt Ayushman Bagarti-Prakash Nayak 15-12, 15-8.
Class-X girls singles: Maman Behera bt Ayasha Swain 21-10. Class-X girls doubles: Maman Behera-Deepa Bhoi beat Sunidhi Mishra-Suchismita Bagarti 11-5, 11-5.Class-VII girls singles: Sangita Majhi bt Gomati Suna 15-6.
