An eight-member Odisha squad, including two women bagged four silver and three bronze medals in the 4th Estern India Trap Shooting Championship, which was held at Midnapur in West Bengal from January 2 to 6. According to Odisha Rifle Association, Suchismita Patra was most successful in the squad, winning a silver medal each in women’s single trap and double trap events. Abinash Pattanaik claimed the third silver in men’s single trap, while the fourth silver was secured in the single trap team event by Abinash Patnaik, Diptimaya Patnaik and Prakash Chandra Sahu.
Pratyesh Sahu won two of the tree bronze medals in women’s single and double trap events. The third bronze came in men’s double trap team event, which featured Abinash Patnaik, Rakesh Mohanty and Prakash Chandra Sahu. Two other shooters in the squad were Dilip Jee and Dibyang Jyoti Patnaik.
