17 district, 2 state units get affiliation from OOA

Odisha Olympic Association in its annual general meeting at Barabati Stadium here today approved a proposal to grant affiliation to 17 new district and two state sports bodies from this year. The new districts are Angul, Bargarh, Bhadrak, Boudh, Deogarh, Gajapati, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Kendrapada, Khurda, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nayagarh, Nuapada, Rayagada and Sonepur.

The two state bodies include Odisha Kayaking and Canoeing Association and Odisha State Karate-Do Association. All the new affiliated units became eligible to receive an annual grant of Rs 10,000 from the financial year 2013-14 along with one vote each.

The AGM also passed a revised surplus budget of Rs 8,47,470 (Income Rs 1,43,41,470 and expenditure Rs 1,34,94,000) for the year 2012-13 and a provisional surplus budget of Rs 3,05,470 (Income Rs 1,45,49,470 and expenditure Rs 1,42,44,00) for the year 2013-14.

The results of OOA elections, which earlier ended in all 22 office-bearers getting elected unopposed for a four-year term, were formally announced by election officers Dr S R Parija and Barija Ranjan Mohanty.
Office-bearers OOA including president Samir Dey and general secretary Asirbad Behera were present in the AGM.
