Santosh Kumar Sinha of Puri emerged champion with 7.5 points in the 5th Sandeep Memorial Open Chess Tournament, which concluded here at Secretariat Recreation Club today. Local favourite Manas Ranjan Parida finished runner-up with seven points. Altogether 103 players from eight districts participated in the three-day tournament, which was organised by Bhubaneswar Chess Association.
FINAL STANDINGS (Top 10): 1. S K Sinha (7.5), 2. M R Parida (7), 3-4. DPS Rao, Prakash Chandra Sahoo (6.5 each), 5-10. Amarendra Khamari, Chandan Sahoo, Vedanta Sarkar, Giridharilal Agarwal, Sahadev Khatei, Sushant Kumar Sahoo (6 each).
