Odisha Cricket Association secretary Asirbad Behera maintained his reign in the richest sports body of the state with his group making a clean sweep of all 21 posts, that too unopposed and before elections, scheduled to be held on September 9. Ten out of the 21 office-bearers, who included secretary Behera, president Ranjib Biswal, four joint-secretaries (increased from three), treasurer and three council members were elected unopposed on August 25 as no other candidate filed nomination against them.
For the vice-presidents posts, which were increased from eight to 11, 25 candidates filed their nominations. But after the candidature of Prafulla Kumar Sahoo was rejected during scrutiny, 24 remained in the fray. However, withdrawal of nomination by 13 candidates two days later, resulted in the 11 vice-presidents getting elected unopposed as well.
Among incumbent office-bearers, vice-president Naba Ranjan Patnaik (Bhubaneswar) and joint-secretary Ramachandra Dasmohapatra (Puri) fell by the way side, while Satyabrata Behera (son of secretary Behera) and Rabi Sankar Pratihari became new joint-secretaries. Surprisingly none from Bhubaneswar Athletic Association could find a place in the list of office-bearers this time.
