Delhi clinched a double crown by winning titles in both the boys and girls categories of the 25th Sub-junior National Softball Championship, which concluded at Satyabrata Stadium here today. Delhi also achieved a hat-trick of double crown with the other two doubles coming in the years 2010 and 2011.
In the boys final, Delhi rode on a double each by Harpreet, Indar and Rana to beat Punjab 6-3. Madhya Pradesh finished third, defeating Haryana 6-1. Baisali and Monali scored two runs each to help Delhi get the better of Madhya Pradesh 4-2 in the girls final match.
Host Odisha finished ninth in boys group and 11th in girls category. Cuttack DCP S Prabin Kumar handed over the trophies at the closing ceremony. Altogether 22 state teams participated in the six-day championship, which was hosted by Odisha Softball Association.
