Odisha girl lifters finish Sub-jr Natl runners-up

Odisha girls emerged runners-up, bagging a total of nine medals in the Sub-junior National Weightlifting Championship, which concluded at Itanager in Arunachal Pradesh toay. The three-member Odisha squad achieved the feat, winning two gold, four silver, three bronze medals.

Youth Commonwealth champion Subhasmita Mohanty led the way, winning two gold and one silver in the 63 kg weight category. She lifted 61kg in snatch (silver), 78kg in clean and jerk (gold) for a total of 139kg (gold).
Her statemate Kalpana Mohanty won three bronze medals, lifting 48kg in snatch, 59kg in clean and jerk and 107kg in total. Earlier on Thursday, Saraswati Rout too secured three silver medals, lifting 62kg in snatch, 77kg in clean and jerk for a total of 139kg in the 58kg category.
