Manas Parida picks State open chess title

Top seed and local favourites Manas Ranjan Parida emerged champions in the State Open Chess Tournament, which concluded here at the Secretariat Recreation Club earlier today. Parida finished at the top of the table with seven points, winning all the games he played in the three-day tournament, which was organised by Orissa State Chess Association (OSCA).

Santosh Kumar Sinha (Puri) and Dhirendra Kumar Das (Bhadrak) occupied the second and third positions respectively in the final standings. As many as 98 players from 11 districts took part in the tournament, which offered a total prize fund of Rs 26,000.
