Odisha woman karate star Valena Valentina bagged two gold medals in the South Asian Karate Championship Talkotara Indoor Stadium in New Delhi today. According to media reports, Bhubaneswar lass Valena won the first gold in senior woman kata event, defeating Sri Lankan counterpart Wathsala in the final. She completed the double, trouncing Bipasha of Bangladesh 9-1 in the below 45kg kumite category. It was a sweet revenge for Valena, who had lost to Bipasha in the final bout of the SAF Games last year.
Altogether 120 karatekas from Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and India are vying for medals in the championship, which is being hosted by All India Karate Do Federation, under the auspices of South Asian Karate Do Federation.
