Radharaman Club won the title in the FAO Women Football League, outplaying Chand Club 3-1 in the final at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack today. Sulochana Malik (9th minute), Pratima Senapati (46th) and Sarojini Tirkey (61st) scored the three goals for Radharaman, while Laxmi Tudu (35th) pulled one back for Chand Club.
``Hard work helped us emerge champions. There was not much time for us to prepare. But the girls gave their cent per cent in each and every game and the result has been heartening,`` described Radharaman coach Nipendra Das.
Tikina Samal (Chand Club), Rashmita Patra (Radharaman Club), Sujata Mallik (Rising Student Club), Sarojini Tirkey (Radharaman Club) and Sakina Nesa (Chand Club) bagged the individual prizes as best goalkeeper, best defender, best mid-fielder, best forward and most promising player respectively in the first edition of the Women League.
