The long-standing worries of State senior billiards and snooker champion Subrat Das ended today when Adarsh Group, a multi-project company, signing him as their brand ambassador for one year. Bijay Kumar Rout, the CMD of the company handed over a cheque of Rs 70,000 to the cueist on behalf of Adarsh Charitable Trust at a function in Bhubaneswar.
``This is our initial financial support to Subrat to enable him perform with added confidence in the 78th Senior National Billiards and Snooker Championship at Chennai and then undergo a short coaching stint either at Bangalore or Mumbai,`` Rout told mediapersons present in the function.
He also announced that Adarsh Group would provide Das an assistance of Rs 20,000 every month for one year. ``This amount will help Subrat compete in open tournaments inside the country. The company wants him to become the first international cueist of the state,`` stated Rout.
Congratulating Das on the occasion, Govind Sharma, the state head (alternative channel) of Adarsh Group indicated that the company was working on a plan to set up a cuesports academy in Bhubaneswar.
Das thanked Adarsh Group for their support and admitted that the sponsorship deal had come as big relief for him. ``Now I can play open tournaments besides the National championship and perform with without any worry,`` he said.
