Seventeen young chess players of the state were felicitated by All Odisha Chess Association (AOCA) for achieving success at national and international levels during the year 2010. In a function at AOSA Bhawan in Bhubaneswar today, Anawesh Upadhyaya, Debashis Das, Kiran Manisha Mohanty, Padmini Rout, Utkal Ranjan Sahoo, Swayams Mishra, Sunyasakta Satpathy, Adyasa Mahapatra, Rudraksh Parida, Saina Salonica, Rakesh Nayak, Rakesh Jena, Subasis Barik, Ritumbhara Bidhar, Soumya Ranjan Mishra, Nishit Mohanty and Smaraki Mohanty were presented with mementos.
AOCA also felicitated 11 organisations and two officials (Asit Mukherjee, Pradyumna Mishra) for hosting state/national events and promoting the game in respective capacities. KIIT founder Achyuta Samanta graced the function as chief guest and gave away mementos to the players and organisations. He declared that the 3rd International Grandmaster Chess Tournament would be held at KIIT University Campus and it would be named as KIIT Cup.
Samant also invited chess talents of the state to avail free admission opportunity in KIIT University in any stream. AOCA president Sekhar Chandra Sahoo, vice-president K K Nath, secretary Vivek Kumar Tibarewal, St Daviers` School director Prabhu Charan Mohanty and Kalinga Chess Academy director Sibabrat Dash were present on the occasion.
