Orissa hockey team finished runners-up after losing to host Madhya Pradesh 1-2 in the final of the Women National Sports Festival (Group-II) at Bhopal today.
According to coach Amulyananda Bihari, the young Orissa side, comprising trainees of State Sports Hostel (Panposh), put up stiff fight in the final before bowing to their formidable opponents, who had many internationals in their rank.
Earlier, Orissa registered three thumping wins, outplaying Uttar Pradesh 6-1, Delhi 10-0 and Kerala 6-0 to storm into the semifinals, where they upset fancied Punjab 2-1 to set up the title clash with MP.
