Birsa Munda Vidyapitha of Rourkela emerge champions in the 28th Nehru Sub-junior Hockey Tournament, defeating Government Model Senior Seconday School, Jalandhar 2-1 in the final at Major Dhyan Chand National
Stadium in New Delhi today.
Captain Sumit Toppo and Ashok Lakra scored a field goal each help the Rourkela school regain the trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh. Toppo also received a individual cash award of Rs 5,000 as the best player of the tournament. Three other teams from Orissa took part in the prestigious tournament. They were Town High School (Sundargarh),Tulasipur High School (Cuttack) and NCC Directorate.
