Satyapragyan become runner-up in Fide rated tournement

Orissa International Master Swayangsu Satyapragyan became runner-up in the 3rd Air Marshal Subroto Mukerjee Memorial Fide Rated Chess Tournament, which concluded at Nagpur on today. He beat Fide Master Panjak Joshi in the 10th and final round to secure eight points, while IM K Rathnakaran emerged champion with 8.5 points. Air India employee Satyapragyan received a cash prize of Rs 51,000 but suffered a loss of around three rating points.

Among four other Orissa players, Mohammad Ashraf (7.5), Sidhant Mohapatra (6.5), Rakesh Kumar Nayak (6), Rajesh Kumar Nayak (5) occupied the 16th, 56th, 66th and 125th positions respectively. Altogether 290 players, including one Grandmaster (Sriram Jha) and 12 IMs participated the tournament.
