Defending champions Goa, strong contenders Andhra Pradesh and Delhi marched into the men’s semifinals, posting convincing wins in the quarterfinals of the Senior National Baseball Championship at the Ravenshaw University ground in Cuttack today. Host Orissa would meet Punjab in the last quarterfinal clash tomorrow.
In the women’s section, Manipur became the first team to book berth in the last-four round with victory over Punjab. Reigning champions Delhi, last year’s runners-up Orissa and Goa would take on Andhra Pradesh, Chandigarh and Madhya Pradesh respectively in the remaining three quarterfinals matches tomorrow.
Results (Quarterfinals): Men: Delhi bt Karnataka 11-1, AP bt Chandigarh 6-3: Goa bt MP 7-0. Women: Manipur bt Punjab 8-4.
