Gurukul boys win doubles title in CS tennis tourney

Orissa boys Adwithiya Patnaik and Shakti Ray of Bhubaneswar-based Gurukul Tennis Academy (GTA) won the boys doubles title in the AITA Championship Series (under-14) Tennis Tournament at Circuit House courts in Keonjhar today. The Orissa duo beat Nikhil Passi (Maharashtra) and Nikunj Poddar (West Bengal) 6-0, 6-1 in the one-sided final. Patnaik stayed on course for a double as he entered the boys singles final, outplaying his doubles partner Ray in the semis. Second seed Patnaik would take on top seed Passi in the final on Thursday. GTA players tasted another notable success with Tanmayee Patnaik setting up the girls singles final against Aayushi Chouhan of Chhattishgarh. In the semifinals, Tanmayee defeated V Surya Narayani (AP) and Aayushi beating Komal Vishakha (Orissa) in straight sets.
