Irom woman Ranu marries irom man Manoranjan

Former Asia powerlifting champion Ranu Mohanty married former weightlifter Manoranjan Mishra in Bhubaneswar today. The marriage ceremony took place at Pantha Nivas, Bhubaneswar in the presence of members of both the families, friends and well wishers from the state sports fraternity. The event generated good media attention. Ranu, a native of Berhampur, bagged one gold and two silver medals in three Asian powerlifting champions, spanning from 2005 to 2007. She also received a bronze in the squat event of the 2006 World Powerlifting Championship at Stavangar in Norway. A product of Utkal Karate School, Bhubaneswar, Ranu also secured medals in National weightlifting championships. But despite winning so many laurels for the state and country, she remains unemployed till date. Manoranjan, who hails from Dhenkanal, achieved modest success in weightlifting before becoming an lawer.
