Orissa bagged 16 medals to finish 10th in the 25th National Junior Athletics Championship, which concluded at Warangal (AP) today. The medals included five golds, four silvers and seven bronzes.
Kerala topped the tally with 71 medals (24 gold, 30 silver, 17 bronze). Shrabani Nanda emerged as the most successful athlete, bagging a golden double in under-20 girls 100 and 200 metre sprints.
ORISSA RESULTS:
Gold: 1. Anand Kumar Majhi (u-16 boys 100m hurdles, 14.09s), 2. Shrabani Nanda (u-20 girls 200m run, 25.04s), 3. Renubala Mahanta (u-20 girls long jump, 5.75m), 4. Shrabani Nanda (u-20 girls 100m run, 12.11s), 5. Jauna Murmu (u-20 girls 400m run, 56.66s).
Silver: 1. Dharmedhar Mahanta (u-20 boys 110m hurdles, 14.53s), 2. Subhasish Nayak, S Burh, R Das, D Mahanta (u-20 boys 4x100m relay, 43.24s), 3. Ranjita Mahanta (u-18 girls 100m run, 12.32s), 4. Birsa Oram (u-20 boys 1500m run, 4:07.55s).
Bronze: 1. Sandeep Burh (u-20 boys 400m hurdles, 55.17s), 2. Rabi Das (u-20 boys long jump, 7.15m), 3. Anil Kumar Das (u-18 boys 400m hurdles, 55.48s), 4. Jauna Murmu (u-20 girls 100m run, 25.32s), 5. Ranjita Mahanta (u-18 girls 200m run, 25.30), 6. Purnima Hembram (u-18 girls 100m hurdles, 15.44s), 7. Purnima Hembram (u-18 girls heptathlon).
