Lagnajit Samal bagged five wicket to put host Orissa in an advantageous position against Jammu & Kashmir on the opening day of their four-day Elite Group-C league match of the C K Nayudu Trophy (under-22) Cricket Tournament at Ravenshaw University ground in Cuttack today.
Electing to bat, Jammu & Kashmir got off to a sound start with Dheeraj Sharma (55, 99b, 4x8, 6x1) and Adil Reshi (32) stitching together 87 runs for the opening wicket. But fine bowling by Samal (5/49) and Alok Pradhan (3/49) helped Orissa dismiss the opposition for 188. In reply, the home side were 67 for one when stumps were drawn for the day.
