The Board of Control for Cricket in India has increased the prize money for the winners of the Ranji Trophy to Rs 2 crores. This was one of the several important decisions the Working Committee of the BCCI took at the Cricket Centre in Mumbai today.
DECISIONS:
PAYMENT FOR EX-ICL PLAYERS: The ex-ICL players who have been granted amnesty, are eligible to play the IPL in the next season (2010), with a cap on the payment being a maximum of Rs. 20 lakhs.
RANJI TROPHY PRIZE MONEY: The prize money has been increased to Rs. 2 crores for the winners, Rs. 1 crore for the runners-up, and Rs. 50 lakhs each to the losing semi-finalists.
UMPIRES NOMINATED TO THE ICC PANEL: Amish Saheba – ICC International Panel, Shavir Tarapore – ICC International Panel, Sanjay Hazare – TV Umpire.
ASSISTANCE TO AIFF: The BCCI will give Rs. 25 crores to the All-India Football Federation for the development of football in the country, in the next two years.
SPECIALISED COACHING CENTRES: Mumbai (Batting), Mohali (Fast bowling), Chennai (Spinners and wicketkeepers). Specialist coaches will be appointed on an Annual Retainership at each of the centres.
UMPIRES’ ACADEMY: The Working Committee approved the setting up of an Umpires’ Academy in principle.
REVISION OF FEES: The following match-fees were approved. They will come into effect from the 2009-10 season onwards:
Umpires in Domestic matches (IPL excepted) – Rs. 7,500 per match-day (Rs. 3,750 per match-day will be contributed to the Benevolent Fund).
Umpire Coaches and Match Referees (IPL excepted) will be paid Rs. 10,000 per match-day.
BONUS FOR EMERGING PLAYERS TOURNAMENT: The team and support-staff that won the Emerging Players tournament in Australia will be paid a bonus of Rs. 1 lakh each.
NCA’S COACHING MANUAL: The National Cricket Academy’s Coaching Manual was released by Shashank Manohar, President, BCCI.
