School Games Association of Orissa conducted an orientation programme on karate and weightlifting for the benefit of physical education teachers (PET) at Utkal Karate School in Bhubaneswar today. Around 70 PETs from different parts of the state joined the day-long programme.
Eminent lifters Chitta Ranjan Swain, Krushna Chandra Sahu and coach Dharmananda Rao provided tips on laws, techniques and career prospect of weightlifting, while Hari Prasad Pattnayak, Satish Samant and Gouri Mohanty supervised sessions on theoritical and practical aspects of karate. The programme aimed at introduction of the two sports at grassroots level, especially educational institutions.
