Defending champions Angul will meet strong contenders Sundargarh in the final of the State Hockey Championship for Nalco Cup at the floodlit Barabati Stadium in Cuttack tomorrow.
In the semifinals today, Angul thrashed Rourkela Steel Plant 3-0, while Sundargarh trounced Sambalpur by identical margin.
Ignacious Toppo (14th minute) and Ignace Surin (65th minute) scored a field goal each for favourites Angul, while David Dungdung converted a penalty corner in between (35th minute).
Rourkela Steel Plant had a chance to reduce the margin through a penalty stroke. But it was squandered by Sanjib Barla.
Sundargarh struck their three goals through a penalty corner each by Amit Rohit Das (3rd minute), Suresh Toppo (59th minute) and a field strike by Alok Barla (62nd minute).
