Giant-killer Jeet sets up final with Subrat

Cuttack cueist Jeet Kishore Das continued dream run in the first CSA All-Orissa Open Snooker Tournament by reaching the final at Cue Sport Academy at Bhubaneswar today. Unseeded Jeet, who toppled top seed Siddharth Sen and seventh seed Sureet Singh earlier, prevailed over fourth seed Ahsan-ul Haque by 4-2 frames in the second semifinal to set up tomorrow’s title clash against third seed Subrat Das. The winner of the best of nine-frame final will be richer by Rs 20,000, while the loser will contend himself with Rs 10,000. A software engineer from Cuttack, Jeet raced to a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven-frame semifinal against nine-time state snooker champion Haque. He would have won the match 4-0 had he putted the well-set blue ball. In stead, Jeet committed a foul and allowed Nalco cueist Haque to fight back into the match by winning the fourth and fifth frames. However, a recharged Jeet played better in the sixth frame to win the match 55-13, 50-42, 53-29, 54-56, 30-62, 54-21.
