Top seed Siddharth Sen suffered a crushing 0-3 defeat at the hands of Jeet Kishore Das in an all-Cuttack pre-quaqrterfinal match of the first CSA All-Orissa Open Snooker Tournament at Cue Sport Academy in Bhubaneswar today.
Reigning state champion Sen, who finished among the top 32 in the last Senior National Snooker Championship at Indore, was completely off-colour and surrendered meekly.
In the quarterfinals, Das will meet eighth seed Sureet Singh or unseeded Amiya Ranjan Nayak on Wednesday.
Second seed Rakesh Roshan Pradhan overcame a fighting Devbrat Rout in 4-2 frames to advance to semifinals.
Bespectacled Pradhan raised the hopes of an easy victory as he raced to a 3-0 lead. But Rout bounced back into the match by taking the next two frames.
In the sixth and penultimate frame, Pradhan played better to clinch victory.
