Sen, Pradhan make it a winning day of top seeds

Top seed and reigning state champion Siddharth Sen got off to a flying start in the first CSA All-Orissa Open Snooker Tournament at the Cue Sport Academy here on Saturday. Cuttack cueist Sen, who finished among the top 32 in the last Senior National Snooker Championship at Indore, displayed fine form in his straight-frame win over Prashant Biswal and booked a berth in the pre-quarterfinals. Second seed Rakesh Roshan Pradhan overcame a shacky start to beat Wasim Khan in 3-1 frames in his opening match. Sen and Pradhan were joined in the round of 16 by seventh seed Sourya Prasad Patnaik, who posted a fighting 3-2 win over Paresh Dutt. Earlier, Sriram Mishra, Prashant Biswal, Devbrat Rout, Wasim Khan and Jeet Kishore Das won the five first-round matches of the day.
