Birla Tyres, Balasore advanced to the semifinals of the 10th All-India Knock-out Football Tournament, eliminating Tollygunge Agragami, Kolkata 4-2, via tie-breaker here at the Sersa Stadium, Bondamunda on Thursday.
Earlier, play in the regulation time ended goalless even though both the sides played aggressive football from the word go. The Kolkata side paid the price for rough play as two of their players were booked with yellow cards.
In the shoot out, Tollygunge Agragami’s two abortive attempts cost them them the match. On Friday, Samaleswari Sporting Club, Sambalpur will take on Ludhiana Sporting Club, Punjab in the last Group-B match.
