Saurashtra made Orissa follow on on the penultimate day of the four-day Ranji Trophy Super League (Group-A) match at the SCA Stadium in Rajkot today.
In reply to host Saurashtra`s mammoth first innings total of 620 for four declared, Orissa were bowled out for 302. After being made to follow on, the visitors finished the day at four for no loss in the second innings.
While Cheteshwar Pujara and Ravindra Jadeja basked in glory on Day-Two by slamming unbeaten triple and double hundreds respectively, Day-Three belonged to left-arm seamer Sandip Jobanputra and off-spinner Kamlesh Makwana, who shared eight wickets between them.
According to information reaching here, Orissa Skipper Shiv Sundar Das top scored for his side with 76. Among other notable scorers, Subit Biswal (62) and Sourav Sehgal (64 not out) contributed a half-century each.
Das put on 67 runs for the opening wicket with Bikash Swarup Pati (33) and 64 runs for the third wicket with Biswal.
The exit of Das triggered a collapse as Orissa lost six wickets for 65 runs. The plight of the visitors would have been worse if Sehgal had not played the defiant knock, hitting eight fours and two sixes. His 61-run ninth-wicket partnership with Preetamjeet Das gave some respectability to the Orissa innings.
The visitors now require 315 runs to avoid the ignominy of an innings defeat with one full day`s play remaining.
